Here's what our readers are saying...

"Michael was a thoroughly entertaining speaker. He has a great sense of sports history that he shares through his lens of Sports Archaeologist and trivia buff."
Stu Kirsch, Vice President, Temple Beth Emunah Brotherhood, Brockton, Mass

"Although I am not an avid, diehard, watch every single game fan......I love the Red Sox and the nostalgic feeling I have during the start of the season each year. Reading THE HEARTACHE YEARS brought me back to the excitement of my youth when on a hot summer afternoon I would sit in my grandfather's living room with the fan overhead watching the "ballgame". Although my grandfather never lived to see the Red Sox win a World Series, he was a huge fan from day one to the end of each season. Wendy B. - Dover, MA

"I'm loving the The Heartache Years but I don't really want to finish it. For some reason, when I came to Dennis Bennett a poem from 40+ years popped into my head that I believe a second grade teacher forced me to come up with: 'The Red Sox are now in Spring Training, They hope Bennett's arm isn't paining, With Yaz at the bat, and Felix the Cat, Tom Yawkey should not be complaining.'  Thank goodness I had better talents, but keep on writing with your far higher quality nostalgia. Maybe a Celtics trivia book somewhere downstream?" Richard H. - Waquoit, MA

"I was looking THE HEARTACHE YEARS last night. Page 5 struck a note in me. In April 1967 I was a senior at DSRHS, probably watching the opening game at Fenway on TV or listening on the radio. In October I was a simple freshman at Westfield State College ~ listening to the World Series on the radio with all sorts of people at college I didn't know.....many students were Yankee fans!. This serves as a nice bridge for my memories.  John H. - Naples FL.
